2014: The Year of the Rifle

riflesPistols? Oh yeah. I’ve got those down. Shotguns? Clay disks beware. Rifles? …Oh..hey..there’s something distracting over there. What? Oh yeah, rifles…uhm…sure…I’ve shot a .22LR rifle a few times. What do you mean “long range”? Twenty five yards is pretty long. I mean, that’s a quarter of a football field and those pro players get payed a lot of money to run 25 yards, right? Two hundred and fifty yards?! Are you insane? Oh…that’s average for rifles? Interview with Brandi, Owner of ChicShooter.com

chicshooterI first stumbled across the site, ChicShooter.com, a little while ago thanks to a comment on one of my articles. It didn’t take long for me to realize this site’s owner really knew what she was doing. The design and organization were great, the products were well thought out and it fixed a problem that I’ve been seeing constantly since I started GunNoob: it provided gear for women, by women. This wasn’t a group of guys saying “well, we think women want this…” (which usually results in lots of men’s gear painted pink). SHOT Show 2014 Round Up….

shotOne week, 160,000 steps and almost 90 miles’ worth of walking later, SHOT Show 2014 in over. I’m sitting in the airport terminal waiting for my plane and thinking back to this year’s show. Knowing what to expect this time, I was able to pace myself much better and, as a result, I was able to see everything without nearly killing myself from exhaustion.

The new company seemed to manage everything well enough although there was some hiccups with the media day passes. To be fair, however, I’m not sure the badge issues were really the company’s fault as there was a nasty snow storm that delayed mail across the board. In my case, my media day passes arrived at my home in on Friday…4 days after media day. They gave me no problems getting a new badge though so no worries. Considering it was this new company’s first SHOT Show, I think they did quite well in the end. Continue reading
