Team Hornady Chalks Up Wins at AR15.com/Rockcastle Pro Am 3-Gun Championship

gI_95427_Hornady logo_3Grand Island, NE (PRWEB) September 22, 2013

Team Hornady was unstoppable among the largest field of shooters ever to compete at the AR15.com/Rockcastle Pro Am 3-Gun Championship, August 23-25, 2013 in Park City, Kentucky. Two thousand acres of unforgiving terrain and eight Pro stages designed by some of the top three-gunners on the circuit coupled with a stamina-withering heat index did not deter Team Hornady’s shooting skills or the accuracy of their Hornady ammo. Caracal Pistol Recall…

Well, this is the first time I’ve ever seen this in a recall before! It seemed strange enough to me that I wanted to verify its authenticity before I posted on it. Basically, there seems to be something really wrong with the pistol. If you send it back as part of the recall, they don’t even send you a repaired gun back. You get a refund instead. The official word is below: Continue reading

Rock Island Armory Introduces Sleek New Look for Legendary 1911’s

ria_SmallAs much as we like to talk about accuracy and reliability and such, the look of a gun also plays a not-insignificant role in decisions. One thing that’s bugged me about 1911’s, from an aesthetic point, is how the manufacturers love to take up all that real estate on the side of the slide with their logos and such. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the desire to make one’s self known, but I’m a big fan of the “less is more” mentality.

That’s why I was quite happy with Rock Island Armory’s announcement today about a change to the way they’re displaying their logo: They’re making is smaller and putting on the back of the slide.  Continue reading

IMPORTANT: Springfield XDs Recall

Looks like there could be a problem with the Springfield XDs pistols in both .45 and 9mm. From the  sound of it, there’s an ever so slight chance of it firing when the slide moves forward. Their site is getting slammed right now but I was able to grab the notice:

Technical Background Get Started Contact Us Springfield-Armory.com
Springfield Armory® is initiating this voluntary safety recall to upgrade 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm and 3.3 XD-S™ .45ACP pistols with new components, which eliminate the possibility of a potentially dangerous condition. We want to emphasize that no injuries have been reported to date.

Springfield has determined that under exceptionally rare circumstances, some 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm and .45ACP caliber pistols could experience an unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once. The chance of these conditions existing is exceptionally rare, but if they happen, serious injury or death could occur.

What should you do?
STOP USING YOUR 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm or .45ACP PISTOL AND CAREFULLY UNLOAD IT!

To begin the upgrade process and for fastest response, click on the Get Started link at the top of the page. On that page enter your serial number and click Next. The serial number is located on the frame beneath the dust cover (accessory rail). If you prefer, you may initiate the upgrade process by calling 800-680-6866. If you no longer own the 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm or .45ACP pistol, please advise Springfield of the current owner.
